As for me, writing lyrics is the hardest part of songwriting.
In the beginning I couldn't come up with anything, my mind was totally blocked and I felt a lot of pressure. I seriously thought about making instrumental music only.
On one side I aimed to tell something more than "oh oh, my mobile broke and now I've got the blues" (I don't have the blues anyway ;-), on the other side I was afraid of opening up about how I see the world, my feelings, fears, dreams.
Dreams... that's the keyword. Some lyrics actually derived from dreams . You know the situation: waking up gasping, feeling like you were just thrown out of another universe, be it the current or a better or even a worse one.
I also started to write down random thoughts, put them in order, looked for a decent rhyme, got stuck and - funny enough - I woke up at 3am with the missing part in my head!
During the next weeks I will introduce the lyrics of "The Raven" to you. Let's start with "Inescapable", which was the first song I wrote.
It was written in 2019 and the questions I ask might sound familiar to some of you.
At the time of the writing I did not know how soon these questions would become more urgent!
We live in a society that is more or less ruled by entertainment. Life is one big show and to see TV moderators talk about heatwaves or flood as if that was just another thrill in an otherwise boring life leaves me baffled.

What if the waters run uphill
What if the earth stands still
What if the sky’s forever dark
What if there is no other ark
Are we, are we still questioning the obvious
Inescapable, inescapable
What if my dreams will not reveal
What if my scars will never heal
What if Christ’s already here
What if there’s love behind my fear
Are we, are we still questioning the obvious
Inescapable, inescapable
