Should be taken with a pinch of salt ;-)
Open letter ;-) to CEO’s , be it real or wannabes:
I submit my music, lyrics book and all necessary informations wrapped in a polite, kind and well mannered email, decorated with colourful ribbons (exaggeration intended).
YOU in exchange spit out a four word sentence right in front of my feet (the rudeness!)
or
pour a bucket full of restrictions (uptempo songs only, lyrics have to start immediately, no long songs, no instrumentals) over my poor old head, showing me that you clearly haven’t listened to what I submitted, otherwise you’d know that eg:
I don’t have uptempo songs. I’m old. I take my time.
I don’t have songs where lyrics pop right in at first bar. I’m notorious for my extended intros!
No short songs, sorry. I’m telling stories. If you expect songs equivalent to
“A man went to the forest and met a rabbit. The End”,
then Prog is not for you.
Just because I call my music submission tour “the beggars tour”, which is a joke on my expense, just doesn’t mean I grant you the right to make a fool out of me!
Did you know that the Japanese language has 4 levels of politeness? Should be possible for the average Western person to use at least ONE when responding to emails!
You think as a musician I depend on your grace, grasping at straws just to get my music heard? Well… you might be right, that’s the balance of power, not only in music industry. You think I have no choice? Wrong.
There are great supportive people out there and I’m really blessed to have already met some of them at:
